Aug 9, 2025 - "..With a Little Help From my Friends"

The lyric says it all! Help comes from many places - some conventional, others not so much. Early this morning I awoke to a channeling experience. I haven’t had a visit from my muse in some time, so I grabbed my pen and got busy recording her messages. They focused exclusively on the epic fantasy I’ve been considering writing. I was able to write the opening paragraph and set the stage for the primary character, a young man of 16, setting out on his first journey away from the village he’d grown up in.

Next, I was able to further develop the rock crystals aspect of the storyline and the primary hook which will launch the quest. Overall, it was a particularly enlightening and very productive session. It left me excited about this YA epic fantasy project. The timing is perfect. I’m still working on the illustrations for the children’s picture book and I'm just waiting for feedback from the beta readers about the historical romantasy I’ve finished. That included a dramatic rewrite which took out 7K words and shifted the core focus of the plot. I’m really excited and can’t wait to begin pitching it to agents.

In the meantime, I now have this epic fantasy to write!
