I find it fascinating, that even when life becomes complex and fast paced, there is a rhythm that flows beneath all the chaos. These days are filled with exciting projects. I enjoy all the challenges that come with creating new stories and this series of cooking videos that we're preparing. There's always something new to anticipate.
I've started a new phase in my writing. Right now it's all about the query letter with all its complexities and nuances. It's such a challenge, with every agent, to find that bonding connection that will hopefully make that individual want to reach out and read my ideas as presented through my books. Yes, it takes a lot of time and research to prepare a query letter but it's like unravelling a new puzzle every day. Each agent is unique. Each agent has their own preferences and wish list. It's like opening a new gift daily and wondering what I'm going to find wrapped in all the words that surround the agent on their website. In some ways, it's like making a new friend every day. I find that exciting. I've always found new experiences and challenges to be exciting. I thrive on them. I look forward to meeting each agent in their own unique environment as I go through my list of 50 potential work partners. To me, it's fascinating that with each new agent there is the potential to form a special bond and working relationship.
It's definitely time consuming and very demanding mentally to pick through all the agent's personal details and find out where the bond could potentially form between you, as a writer, and that particular agent and then try to determine what it is that could possibly draw the two of you together in a partnership to present your writing to the world.
Recently, I nearly gave up and let my manuscript sit in the drawer. It feels daunting, at times, to try and interest someone in your story telling but there it is, if I don't do this, if I don't put the effort into finding just the right person to represent my work, it's going to sit there in the dark, unknown, unread, unappreciated for the rest of time. I can't think of anything worse than to have poured my heart and soul, all my time and effort, into creating this storytelling experience and then not have anyone to share it with - no audience that wants to read my work. This experience of writing query letters really is a master class in salesmanship and goodness knows, that's never been my forte. However, the alternative is unthinkable. I truly want to share my writing with others. So, no matter how difficult or how challenging it becomes, I will continue researching agents and writing query letters in the hope that someday, I'll find my perfect match.
Best wishes always…
P.S. Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog! My intention is to keep followers up to date on my latest writing adventures. My current focus is on fiction genres including children's picture books and YA/NA historical romanticies. I'm also preparing to write an epic fantasy for the young adult audience. As a debut author I face all the challenges of breaking into the traditional publishing market. I need your interest and support to do so! Please consider following me here and on other social media platforms, which you can access on the Home page of my author's web site. I'll be adding more in the weeks to come so please check back from time to time as I add new non-fiction materials to my entries. Thank you so much, in advance, for following my blog. You are potentially helping me enrich the lives of future readers. I just need this break to attract my first agent representation! Your efforts will make all the difference! Thank you once again.
