I had fun this morning. A friend asked me to create them a design for a tattoo. We chatted about her needs and what she had in mind, then I got to work. A few hours later, it was finished and she loved it! I was so pleased. To me it's such an honour to know that someone is wearing your artwork on their body for the rest of their lives. This was my third such request and I must say, I really enjoyed it.
I'm getting ready to query my novel with emphasis on a new genre, which I hope is a better fit. This round of query letters I'll be focusing on agents representing Women's Fiction. Today, I wrote a new elevator pitch of 20 words.
"Elizabeth Porter becomes empowered when she inherits a magical pendent that takes her back in time to solve a murder."
I also wrote a longer blurb for the back of the book at 148 words.
"Elizabeth Porter begins chaffing at her family’s smothering good intentions, until a distant relative dies.
In England, Thomas Howard, a mysteriously handsome lawyer, introduces Elizabeth to her unique inheritance. Far from family, as heir to a property shrouded in secrets, her growing confidence encourages her to travel the Universe using a magical pendent. Elizabeth decides to help Tamsyn, a druid healer living in the Bronze Age.
The answers to the mystery surrounding the murders of Tamsyn’s mother and siblings lay deep in her nightmares. The druid, Briac, falls hopelessly in love with the healer adding his support to their frantic search. Their lives are in danger when the pendant goes missing and the assassins begin to close in. They urgently need to find justice for the victims and get the newly empowered Elizabeth back to her own time-period safely, before it’s too late."
Please let me know what you think in the comments. Would that catch your attention and make you want to read or buy the book? Any suggestions for improvements?
Best wishes always…
P.S. Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog! My intention is to keep followers up to date on my latest writing adventures. My current focus is on fiction genres including children's picture books and YA/NA historical romanticies. I'm also preparing to write an epic fantasy for the young adult audience. As a debut author I face all the challenges of breaking into the traditional publishing market. I need your interest and support to do so! Please consider following me here and on other social media platforms, which you can access on the Home page of my author's web site. I'll be adding more in the weeks to come so please check back from time to time as I add new non-fiction materials to my entries. Thank you so much, in advance, for following my blog. You are potentially helping me enrich the lives of future readers. I just need this break to attract my first agent representation! Your efforts will make all the difference! Thank you once again.
