We purchased a domain and chose a web site template today. Peter and I decided to create a separate web site to support material that will appear in our new YouTube series called GG Cooks (Great Gramma Cooks). There was already a Gluten-free Gramma series, so we decided to change the name slightly, as we had already purchased the domain name and URL. We’ve begun to choose images and design the text as well. This will be an ongoing project over the next week or so. We plan to launch it when the first video is released.
In the meantime, I ran into an issue with my novel. When I was viewing a P2P video on Tuesday, I watched one writer struggle with the genre of her book. Last week I received a very supportive rejection letter that encouraged me to submit to them again in the future. They said their rejection of my book stemmed from the fact that the market for Historical Romanticies is oversubscribed and as a publisher they were stepping away from that genre at the moment. That caused me to do as my late husband always suggested – make a 5-degree shift and look at the problem from a new perspective. My novel has always focused on the evolution of the protagonist, Elizabeth Porter, from the youngest child in an overly protective family to an independent adult. I decided to create a new pitch and highlight that aspect of a very complex story. I have decided to change the genre to Women’s Fiction with an emphasis on the New Adult market. With this in mind, I spent most of the day generating a new list of 50 agents who represent this genre. Now, I’ll begin submitting query letters to these new agents.
I didn't like the expression on the face of the child, especially the nose, in my children's picture book A MOST CURIOUS MAGICAL TALE, so I redid it and uploaded the new version to the gallery. Below you can see the new child character. I think the face is much sweeter. What do you think? Please leave a comment to let me know your thoughts.
It was a big day! Two huge problems solved… now onward and upward!
Best wishes always…
P.S. Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog! My intention is to keep followers up to date on my latest writing adventures. My current focus is on fiction genres including children's picture books and YA/NA historical romanticies. I'm also preparing to write an epic fantasy for the young adult audience. As a debut author I face all the challenges of breaking into the traditional publishing market. I need your interest and support to do so! Please consider following me here and on other social media platforms, which you can access on the Home page of my author's web site. I'll be adding more in the weeks to come so please check back from time to time as I add new non-fiction materials to my entries. Thank you so much, in advance, for following my blog. You are potentially helping me enrich the lives of future readers. I just need this break to attract my first agent representation! Your efforts will make all the difference! Thank you once again.
