Aug. 29, 2025 - Back to School...

It's not just my grandchildren that are getting ready to go back to school. Today I did a deep dive into illustrating a children's book. I recently bought 2 hard cover text books on both writing and illustrating a children's picture book. Like all text books they were very expensive! However, after really delving into them this afternoon, I can honestly say they are worth their weight in gold. I have learned so much it's incredible. I'll post pictures of both books below. I've already posted one before, but think it's worth showing again.

I also spent part of the day working on the illustrations for the first and last pages of the book. I want to modify an illusion called "torn paper" for the first and last pages. Without giving it all away, I want to use different tangles to create the illusion of a vegetation curtain being drawn back. I'm excited about the concept and how it will look when I'm finished - a project for tomorrow! I'll post a picture of "torn paper" down below as well.
