After yesterdays overwhelming series of serendipitous events, today settled into a series of resulting tasks. Most of the morning was spent reviewing Heirloom Literacy's submission requirements and assessing their extensive list of authors whose work reflects the company's favourite author/book combinations. The list provided me with the information I needed to research comparable books which contained themes similar to my own in THE TRIQUETRA LEGACY. From there, I was able to use their submission guidelines to create an appropriate query letter for their agency's representation of my work to publishers. Hopefully, this query letter will lead to an offer of representation. As I've said before publishing is a very complex industry!
This afternoon, I was able to review my notes from the Instagram webinar on an introduction to this particular form of social platform. From there I was able to do some preliminary investigation into buying a new iPhone. I've always used android based systems, but my tech wiz son felt that the iPhone would be better for social media apps like Instagram and YouTube shorts. Someday soon we'll go to a store and check out all the options.
I also received an email from The Highlights Foundation about a course I'll be taking from Sept. 30th to Nov. 4th regarding the development of children's picture books. I've already signed up and paid, but am concerned there may eventually be a conflict with my shoulder surgery. I wanted to see how much cancellation notice I had to give them in order to get my money back. Further investigation showed me that I'll have about a month to get my illustrations to the stage where I can complete the project within the time frame of the course. That would be excellent! Below is one example of a potential title page I've been working on for the proposed children's picture book. All in all, it was a very productive day in spite of the pain caused by my broken tooth! Hopefully I'll be able to see a dentist tomorrow and get some relief.
Also, heads up - Peter and I worked on the comment option and I believe we've now got it working, so please leave us your feedback. I'd love to hear from you!
Best wishes always....
P.S. Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog! My intention is to keep followers up to date on my latest writing adventures. My current focus is on fiction genres including children's picture books and YA/NA historical romanticies. I'm also preparing to write an epic fantasy for the young adult audience. As a debut author I face all the challenges of breaking into the traditional publishing market. I need your interest and support to do so! Please consider following me here and on other social media platforms, which you can access on the Home page of my author's web site. I'll be adding more in the weeks to come so please check back from time to time. Thank you so much, in advance, for following my blog. You are potentially helping me enrich the lives of future readers. I just need this break to attract my first agent representation! Your efforts will make all the difference! Thank you once again.
