The Gift

The gift you bring to me
Is intricately wrapped
In the experience of knowing you.
As the precious moments
Of my eternal being
Are shared with you,
In passages of exploration,
We will reach out to touch
Each other's hearts and souls.

And when the present,
As we know it,
Has slipped away
To some distant plane,
The essence of your gift
Will still remain with me ...
In the form of memories.

And as I unwrap your gift,
Before my wondering eyes,
I stop to ponder the nature
Of this parcel.
Although given to me
In the here and now,
I know it is best savoured
In the other space
We know as future times.
And I must ask myself,
What is the nature
Of this mysterious package?

Will it be filled with humour?
Will we laugh and giggle,
Play with words,
Tickle one another's
Sense of the bizzare,
And fill the hours
With our streams of joyous laughter?
When the memory of you,
Comes unbidden to my mind,
Will it tug at my lips
Curving them into a rueful smile?

Will it be filled with passion?
Will we be grounded in the physical,
Sharing the sensual joys of touch,
Arousing desires that will enflame
Our minds with erotic pleasures?
When the memory of you,
Comes unbidden to my mind,
Will my body tremble with
The joy of of having known all of you?

Will it be filled with lessons?
Will we struggle to resolve
The feelings that we cannot
Grasp and deal with happily?
When the challenges arise,
Will habits and patterns,
Older than the web of lives incarnate,
Rob us of the joys
That we might have shared?
When the memory of you,
Comes unbidden to my mind,
Will a sweet sadness pervade my body,
As I recall the learning
That you brought to me?

Will it be filled with nurturing?
Will we share a love so rare
That all the Angels will exclaim
In awe and envy at its beauty?
Will we support and cradle
One another in great times of need
And rejoice at each other's sweet successes?
When the memory of you,
Comes unbidden to my mind,
Will I sigh with great contentment
At knowing such a love as ours?

The gift you bring to me
Is rare indeed.
And when this parcel is fully opened,
I will treasure every facet,
As it sparkles and twinkles at me
Across the vast expanses
That the Universe provides.
And when the memory of you,
Comes unbidden to my mind,
I will know that I am,
By far the richer,
For having recieved this gift
Which you have shared with me.
