Autumn Enchantment

Golden sunlight
bathes
the endless grove
of trees,
adorned
in harvest colours.

This pallet
of soft hues
draws the eye...
sending it
wandering,
aimlessly,
across
a patchwork
vista.

I feel
the sweet
enchantment
of
an autumn day.

I breathe
deeply
to inhale
the pungent odours
offered by
the ancient mother,
Earth.

She whispers
to me,
softly...

she sooths
my weary mind,
allowing it
to open
and absorb
the beauty
captured
in this
fleeting moment...

and,
as I drink in
every morsel
she provides,
my thoughts stray,
unbeckoned,
to the warmth
of knowing you...

your teasing voice
and
gentle words...
your laughter,
and the anecdotes
which tickle me,
until
I am
reduced
to merry giggles...

my soul is healed...
the memory
of our shared time
brings a soft smile
to my lips.

It makes me
glow and
sigh contentedly,
as I realize
just
how
much

I love you.
