Budding Rose

i
look at you
from
the other side
of midnight,
where
the stars
twinkle
like
the crystal jewels
on a bed
of pristine snow.

i
look at you
with eyes
all misted over
by
the dreams
of the eternal
maiden's heart.

you
hold my breath
within
the timber
of your
laughing voice...

you
reach inside
my very soul,
caressing
me
so tenderly...

i
close my eyes
and feel
you near...

your
presence
haunts me
like
a familiar melody
suspended
on the stillness
of
a moonlit night.

so
tentative,
the whispers
of
love's
budding rose...

so
fragile,
from
the other side
of midnight.
